Writing with History

Over the years we have encouraged our customers to use Institues for Excellence in Writing's curriculum: Teaching Writing: Structure and Style. This excellent writing program encourages the student to imitate good writing by taking notes, re-writing paragraphs, and adding stylistic techniques that make even the youngest student's writing sound eloquent. One main complaint many people who have used this curriculum voice, is that the program is difficult to implement.

We are so excited to finally make available a companion guide to Teaching Writing: Structure and Style. This guide, Writing with History, includes 36 weeks of step-by step lessons, taking you through the concepts taught in the IEW curriculum, but breaks them down so that the teacher can more easily lead the younger student through the lessons, and allows the older student to work more independently. Each guide is integrated with the history topics covered in the history schedule. Provided in each guide is a summary paragraph compiled from the readings schedule each week in the history schedule. These paragraphs incorporate the concepts taught in IEW, which serves as an example to the student of the stylistic techniques they can add to their own writing. Gone are the days when we neglect to complete writing because we could not figure out what to do next, or because we could not find a good enough paragraph to summarize.
