What is "Classical" Christian Education?
Classical Education
Classical Education is based on the trivium, which is a three step process of learning.
Classical Christian Education combines Classical learning with the Christian World view.
It exposes the student to the history, art, and culture of Western Civilization including
language, philosophy and literature, but brings it into focus with an awesome
understanding of the overarching providence of God in all areas of study.

In the early years (the
grammar stage) the child spends time memorizing facts and
building a foundation for later years of study.  Since the child's mind at this stage is ready
to absorb information, this is the best time to fill it with facts.  The child will be learning
facts about math, science, history, and geography, rules of phonics, grammar, and
spelling, English and Latin vocabulary, etc.  Gaining these facts in the early years enables
the child to move to the next stage in educational development.
In the middle years (the
logic stage), the child begins an analytical and more thorough
understanding of facts.  During these years the child will build on the facts gathered in the
grammar stage.  In the logic stage the child will begin to learn the cause and effect
relationship between the facts being studied.  In history your child will begin to ask, "Why
was the Revolutionary War fought?" "What events led to the beginning of that war?"
"What could have prevented the war?"  In science your child will begin to ask, "Why
does a plant need sunlight and water to grow?"  " What would happen if the plant didn't
have sunlight?" The child will use the scientific method to answer his questions. In Math,
the child will begin to use the math facts studied in more complex math equations.  In
language, the child will use the grammar rules, phonics rules, and spelling rules in his
writing.

In the high school years (the
rhetoric stage) the child is ready for abstract thinking and
articulation.  In these years the student applies the facts learned in the grammar stage and
the answers to the questions he has gained in the logic stage, as he learns to write and
speak in a clear and elegant style.  During these years the child should be encouraged to
focus on an area of learning that interests them.
You Can Educate Your Children Classically at Home!
Educating your children classically can be done at home!  Over the years our family has
used the classical method at home.  Each spring, in preparation for the coming year,
Sandra reads
The Well-Trained Mind: a Guide to Classical Education at Home by Susan
Wise Bauer and Jessie Wise.  Then she goes to a variety of classical homeschool
websites to get additional resources and information in preparation for the coming year's
school.  She orders curriculum and books and other resources.  Then during the
summer months she places each subject and each book on 36 week-long schedules.
These schedules are used by each of her children during the school year to ensure
Sandra and her children that they are keeping at a pace that will enable them to finish by
the end of the year.
If you use our schedules you will get the benefit of years of website searching, years of
reading on the Classical Method, years of testing these schedules, and years of
revamping and re-evaluating the schedules to perfection.
We Can Help You!
Easy Classical Day-by-Day schedules allows you to provide an excellent Classical
Christian homeschool education for your children without spending hours each week
preparing for the coming week.  Each schedule is mailed to you in a 3-ring binder with
dividers for each of the 36 week.  Behind each divider is the schedule for that week.
Our binders include 36 week-long schedules.  Each schedule is broken down into 5
days.  Each day is broken down into individual subjects.  Each subject is broken down
into curriculum, books and suggested activities.  Beside each subject is listed the pages
that need to be read or completed by the end of the day.  Many of the subjects are
coordinated so that your child can complete an art project while drawing the animal she
is studying in science.  She can learn important geography skills while completing a
history lesson.  Your child will listen to exciting read-a-louds while learning important
facts about history.  Music and Art are combined with history. Not only do you receive
this tremendous resource you will also receive a variety of helps, charts and forms for
the subjects you are studying.

Search through our website to find the
curriculum we use and recommend for each
grade level.  Preview a
sample page of our schedules we include in each notebook.
