"Easy Classical Schedule eliminates the time-consuming task of book/curriculum selection and also decreases the likelihood of unnecessary purchases. I can truly focus on understanding the subjects thoroughly and enjoy learning with my child." ~Sherri W. Grifton, NC

Read the Well-Trained Mind to understand the framework of classical education at home. Shepherding a Child’s Heart and Say Goodbye to Whining, will give you a wonderful guide to raising children with hearts to honor God. The Total Money Makeover will help order your finances, and begin to teach your child about budgeting. We provide a budget sheet in our schedules and suggestions for how to structure allowances and how to simply teach budgeting to your child. These books are not used in our schedules.
This year the schedules will take your child through a study of Training Hearts Teaching Minds. This is a great devotional book that encourages your child to memorize the catechism while it give excellent explanations of what the answers mean. If you haven't already purchased a Bible, purchase the Bible that you think will be most appropriate to the reading level of your child. The Bible memory verses scheduled this year coincide with the devotional scheduled in Training Hearts Teaching Minds. We also recommend you purchase the Tracking Your Walk daily prayer journal. This is a great place for your child to write down memory verses as well as prayer requests.

This Physical Education book can be used with grades K-12. We have placed daily PE muscular strength and fitness assignments as well as bi-weekly aerobic exercises in our schedules. We also provide you with a whole fitness guide of pages copied with permission from the author. We hope to help you stay on track with your fitness goals this year!
Drawing with Children is a K-6 drawing program. We schedule a drawing assignment each week in our second grade schedules. Many of the lessons coincide with either the history or science lesson your child is studying. Purchase a sketch book, colored pencils and fine tip and thick tip markers in order to complete the lessons scheduled.

Spelling Workout E is geared toward the fourth or fifth grader. Purchase Spelling Workout F if you were able to complete Spelling Workout E in third grade. Most children will be at the level of Spelling Workout E this year.
This is a great handwriting program. The instruction manual has a couple of pages of instruction for each level in the program. Only purchase the instruction manual if you haven’t purchased it in a previous grade. The Medieval History Copybook is a great addition for more variety in writing practice.

We recommend you Purchase Saxon Math 65 (Saxon Math 54 is more of a third grade text book). If you are unsure your child is ready have him take a placement test. Purchase the homeschool kit which includes the student textbook, tests and worksheets and solutions manual.

This is a great K-12 writing program. Our schedules help you to use this excellent program by providing you lesson plans and writing assignments that are coordinated with the science and history lessons scheduled during the week.
This is a great way to teach grammar. With jingles, the question-answer flow, and scripted lessons your child will be able to define the parts of speech and find each one in a sentence easily. You will be amazed at how much grammar you and your child will learn by the end of the year.
Latin for Children is a delightful series that our family has loved for the past two years. It is a great Latin program that is very teacher friendly. It is written to follow along with the concepts taught in Shurley English. The readers follow the history schedule of Veritas Press' history program. My children love watching the father teach his children Latin on the DVDs. The activity books and history readers are not necessary but do enhance the learning of the student.
All you need for the fourth grade schedule is the Teaching Writing: Structure and Style (Teacher's Seminar). If your student needs extra practice, the "Student Seminar" might be helpful.

These critical thinking software programs are a great addition to the curriculum choices for 4th grade. These are not essential to learning, but they do help the 4th grader to increase their thinking skills as well as test taking skills. If you used our 3rd grade schedules these are the same programs. They are geared toward the 3rd and 4th grader. If you feel your child is ready to move on get the next level up. If not have your child continue use these programs in 4th grade. Extra practice builds confidence.

Your job as a parent is not just to keep your child happy. You're raising a future grown-up who needs to be able to deal with grown-up matters. Teach your children how to handle money while they are young, and they won't make costly mistakes later in life.
